Robert,

When I worked for a daily paper, trained as a journalist, I thought I
thoroughly checked facts and statements of those interviewed. But it
wasn't until I learned about scientific inquiry and epidemiology that I
really learned to check references. Sloppy is still sloppy, though.
Mistaking Zurich for Amsterdam ie easy enough to check in 10 seconds on
Google.
