Dear Members of the Viral Hepatitis Coordinating Committee, Education,
Integration, and Policy Sub-Committees:

I wanted to let you know about this exciting funding opportunity from
the newly established NVHR Gregg Allman Hepatitis C Community Education
Grant Fund. See below and attached for more information. Hepatitis B
Groups please note that while the fund is focused on increasing
hepatitis C awareness, it will also support integration of hepatitis C
awareness activities into the efforts of hepatitis B-focused groups.

Please let me know if you're planning to apply and for what activities
so that I can get a sense for what community groups have in mind. I can
either keep this information to myself, or connect you to community
groups with similar proposals, based on your preference. Just let me
know.

I don't think state and local health departments are eligible to apply
but I am copying health department folks here so that you can share this
information with your local viral hepatitis awareness networks and other
community partners.

Thanks,

Rachel

Dear Viral Hepatitis Advocate:

The National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR) and the Task Force for
Global Health (Task Force) are pleased to announce the availability of
funding through the NVHR Gregg Allman Hepatitis C Community Education
Grant Fund. A short description of the application process is included
below. Please see the attached Request for Proposals (RFP) and required
Cover Letter form for additional details. A technical assistance
conference call will be held on Thursday, September 1 (details in
attached RFP).

About the Fund

The NVHR Gregg Allman Hepatitis C Community Education Grant Fund was
established with a donation to the Task Force/NVHR from the Allman
Brothers Band with proceeds from their July concert to promote the "Tune
in to Hep C" educational campaign developed by Merck Pharmaceutical
Company. Gregg Allman has received a liver transplant as the result of
hepatitis C infection.

NVHR is a coalition of public, private and voluntary organizations
dedicated to reducing the incidence of infection, morbidity and
mortality from viral hepatitis in the United States. The Task Force
works in the areas of disease eradication and control, child well being,
global health collaboration, and public health informatics to provide
and improve the resources necessary for better global health for those
in need. NVHR is a project of the Task Force. We expect to award 6 - 8
grants not to exceed the amount of $10,000 each.

Who Can Apply

This call for proposals is open to all non-profit community-based
organizations, health care organizations, and social service
organizations interested in advancing hepatitis C education and
awareness. Organizations interested in applying must have 501 (c) 3
status. Membership in NVHR is not required, but applicants are
encouraged to join if they are not already members. Activities that are
eligible for funding may include, but are not limited to:

* Conducting trainings and workshops for stakeholders, including
medical providers, patients, and the general public

* Community based or organization based education or awareness
initiatives, such as localized public education and awareness events or
campaigns, or internal company/organization based education or awareness
campaigns

*         Innovative social media campaigns

* Integration of hepatitis C education in existing hepatitis B
programs
