Human Rights and Harm Reduction Experts to Hold Forum on Canada's "Tough on
Crime" Legislation

SIMULTANEOUS WITH THE FORUM THERE WILL BE A LIVE PODCAST

On Tuesday, October 18, legal, human rights and harm reduction experts will
gather in Toronto to speak about the impacts that the Conservative
government's "Tough on Crime" legislation will have on the Canadian public.
.

This timely forum coincides with the first day of witness testimony about
the government's cornerstone anti-crime legislation, Bill C-10, before a
parliamentary committee. It will provide much-needed insight into the true
fiscal and social costs of the legislation.

Bill C-10 is being rushed through Parliament with minimal debate. But the
bill will have serious and far-reaching consequences for the health of our
economy, the safety of our streets, and the well-being of families and
communities across Canada.

The Forum will take place at the Church of the Redeemer, 162 Bloor Street
West, Toronto (Northeast corner at Avenue Road), starting at 7:00 pm.

We welcome participation of people not in Toronto in the PODCAST. It is
accessible on the website of the Canadian Harm Reduction Network
<outbind://209/www.canadianharmreduction.com> www.canadianharmreduction.com.
The PODCAST will start at 7:00 pm EST, Canada time
