HOW TO SEND LONG-DISTANCE FAXES FOR FREE ON THE INTERNET (this is a public service of the Internet Multicasting Service and is totally legit and above-board, in case you're wondering):
The address format for fax requests is "[email protected]", where NAME is the name of the recipient (this will be printed on the fax cover sheet) with underscores (_) instead of spaces, and NUMBER is their fax number with all its digits reversed and separated by dots (.). The country code _must_ be included in the fax number; the country code for the United States is 1. So, for example, if you wanted to fax Representative Lynn Schenk at 1-202-225-2042, you would address your e-mail to "[email protected]".
Not all areas are covered by fax servers. If you try sending to somewhere that isn't covered, your message will be returned to you. Here is the coverage list as of January 1994:

If you want to send images instead of (or in addition to) text, use

the following MIME content types:
- text/plain
- message/rfc822
- application/postscript
- image/tiff
- multipart
So, you might send something like the following: To: [email protected]
