Families Against Mandatory Minimums
(FAMM) is hosting the first Justice Day on the steps of the Capitol on
Tuesday, May 17th.
This event is to bring attention to the thousands of inmates currently incarcerated under mandatory minimum sentencing laws. Many of which are first time, non-violent offenders.
FAMM does not argue that crime should go unpunished--it simply argues that the punishment should fit the crime.
-----Amendment VIII - "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted."
