On Feb. 1, Senators Montgomery, Babbush, Galiber, Markowitz, Santiago and Waldon introduced S.B. 1998, "AN ACT to amend the public health law, the general business law and the insurance law, in relation to the sale and possession of hypodermic syringes and needles." The bill, which would repeal laws banning non-prescription sale and possesion of hypodermics. has been referred to the Committee on Health.
The corresponding Assembly bill, A.B. 2810, was introduced by Assembly members Gottfried, Murtaugh, Diaz, Glick and Greene, and multi-sponsored by Barbaro, Brennan, Clark, Cook, Dinowitz, Dugan, Genovesi, Grannis, John, Katz, Lopez, Ramirez, Rivera, Stringer, Towns and Vann. It was referred to the Committee on Health and passed out to the Committee on Codes (which meets on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. in Room 630 of the Capitol).
