On Friday morning, March 7th, Drug Czar Barry McCaffrey will speak for Harvard University's addictions conference at the Park Plaza Hotel in downtown Boston. A coalition of organizations will protest McCaffrey's continuation of the War on Drugs, including his opposition to medical marijuana and needle exchange, his cooperation with rights abusing governments in Latin America, the continuing incarceration of hundreds of thousands of Americans for non-violent drug offenses, and his misleading claims of a "new emphasis on health" in national drug policy where no such new emphasis exists.
Protesters will meet at 8:00am in front of the Park Plaza Hotel, on Providence St., near the Arlington St. T stop on the Green Line. More information on the protest is available from the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition at (617) 944-CANN. Some interesting background information can be read at http://www.dead.net/special_events/ on the world- wide-web (scroll to the last section of the page).
